Pembrokeshire Flying Club Fun Rally - Aim: To provide a flying challenge to fixed wing pilots that is both safe and FUN and raise funds for Prostate Cymru
Although slightly hazy (we get spoilt in Pembrokeshire) 8 competitors took part in the challenging 2016 Fun Rally. Peter in BRCV gave us (and no doubt John his nav) a bit of a fright on his take-off but thankfully he resolved the issue safely. Three competitors flew over from Ireland though one elected to withdraw after a fraught crossing of the Irish Sea (very sensible as the competition is not a flight if your not fully fit - physically or mentally). Thanks to all those who took part and in particular Nick in his single seat open cockpit biplane - a huge challenge. Thanks to all the helpers - Dave at the landing, Bernie and Rhona at the start, Francesca and Brian at CP3 and Martin with the envelopes. A massive thanks to Malcolm for the all the hard work he put into this event - without which this event would not have taken place. We raised awareness of Prostate Cancer at the briefing and in lieu of an entry fee competitors made a donation to Prostate Cymru and once we have a total I will post it here. *** NEW *** We raised £140 to help Prostate Cymru Wales spread the awareness of thhis Male killer that is very treatable if picked up early The club awarded two hats - One went to Shay in EI-SMK for being Runner Up and the other went to Matt in G-BAYO for a result that was very creditable given his experience. The winner of the 2016 PFC Fun Rally Tankard (kindly donated by Fly Wales ) went to John Fisher and his navigator John Wilson - well done! Bob Ellis PFC 2016 Fun Rally Results (pdf)
